Natural disasters...

I just saw the news tonight, and saw what's happening down in New Orleans, and it got me thinking about all these natural disasters, and what they mean. There was Tsunami just a few months ago, and now this...like, what's going on? I've heard allot of talk about how this is the planet cleansing itself, getting ready for the big shift in consciousness, and I agree with that, but I also think that these events are for us and our awakening as well. In the face of death, you realize that you are still alive. I think that's what these disasters are about; to wake us up from the monotonous sleepwalk of an existenace that the majority of the population is in. Most people (myself not exempt) spend their whole lives just living in their own little bubble of a comfort zone, living out a circle of self satisfaction untill the day that they die. They never take a moment to think beyond their own issues and reach out to someone else from a truly unselfish perspective. Until, the plane hits, or the wave crashes, or the wind blows their house down and forces them out of those shells and into reality again; a reality that is filled with fear and pain, yes, but a reality that causes us to reach down into the deepest part of our beings to bring forth a light to combat that fear and pain. It causes us to come together as a people, and relate through compassion. It pushes us beyond our selves, and challenges us to grow and adapt in ways we wouldn't otherwise.

Now, imagin if we just did that, everyday, without waiting for the next bomb to drop. Lived a life of commitment to our fellow man, and uplifting the lives of others, while ultimately uplifting our own. This is our wake up call, maybe if we finally get the message this time, Mother Nature will stop having to knock.
